Dr. Rolfe

Practice Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Jay Rolfe

Dr. Jay Rolfe has adored animals his whole life—he always knew that working hands-on with the earth’s creatures would suit him perfectly. Getting to serve the pets and animal parents of Vancouver Island is a dream come true! Dr. Rolfe is the proud owner and Chief Veterinarian here at Thetis Heights Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Rolfe graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986, where he took a special interest in exotic animals. Next, he practiced in Prince George for a year before deciding he preferred the climate of Vancouver Island. Dr. Rolfe worked in emergency veterinary medicine for a few years in Victoria before making the shift to day work from night shifts—that’s when he decided to branch out on his own.

Dr. Rolfe set up The Avian Clinic and purchased the Victoria Veterinary Clinic in 1990. Soon after in 2003, Glanford Animal Hospital joined the hospital group, followed by Thetis Heights Veterinary Clinic. In 2013, after purchasing and developing a new piece of real estate, The Victoria Veterinary Clinic and Glanford Animal Hospital merged. Recently, the hospital merged with Thetis Heights Veterinary Clinic in order to best serve the pet parents and animal companions of the area. Dr. Rolfe and his team couldn’t be happier to help!

At home, Dr. Rolfe has several pets: a pair of cats named Tuxedo Mask and Frangipangi, a turtle named Sam, and about 30 goldfish in the pond.

Dr. Pollock

Dr. Alexandra Pollock

Dr. Alexandra Pollock knew that she wanted to care for animals from the age of 6 years old. Her passion and determination to help people and their beloved pets has stayed with her throughout her career.

Dr. Pollock was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from York University in 2004. She then went on to complete a veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, with clinical training at the prestigious Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts in 2009. Among her many academic awards, she was the recipient of the Pfizer Small Animal Medicine Award. She went on to complete an intensive one-year small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at Tufts University. She met her husband, also a veterinarian (ambulatory) and moved to rural Connecticut. While raising their young family, Dr. Pollock worked as an emergency clinician for the New England Veterinary Center and Cancer Care, and as a primary care vet for Quinebaug Valley Veterinary Hospital in CT.

The Pollock family moved to beautiful Victoria in summer of 2020. Dr. Pollock joined the Emergency Service at WAVES shortly after, she then went on to locum for both emergency clinics VCA Central and WAVES. She is delighted to join the team at Thetis Heights Veterinary Clinic and looks forward to making lasting relationships with staff, clients, and their pets.

Her professional interests include cardiac disease, ultrasound and radiology, and emergencies. She really enjoys helping and educating clients about their cherished pets. During her free time, you can find her playing tennis, sailing/boating and spending time exploring this beautiful island with her husband, 2 kids and red poodle puppy, Baker.
