Pamper Your Cat For Happy Healthy Cat Month

September 1 2021

September is Happy, Healthy Cat Month! Fluffy is a great little buddy, and she definitely deserves to be happy and healthy all year, not just for one month. That said, this is a great chance to spoil your furry friend a bit, and get that motor going. A Millstream, BC vet offers some advice on how to do that in this article.

Playtime

Fluffy may spend most of her time sleeping, but she’s still a tiny lion at heart. Pick up a new plaything for your kitty, and indulge her in a fun session of Catch The Red Dot or Pounce On The Wand Toy. This will not only make your cat happy, it’s also great for her physically!

Window Seat

Your adorable, innocent-looking little pet is a fierce predator by nature. Give Fluffy a window seat, so she can watch local wildlife and daydream about hunting. If you want to go a step further, you can make her a catio. An enclosed porch or patio is perfect for this, but you can also use a spare room or even a sunny corner. Add pet-safe plants, fun toys, and some kitty furniture. Instant purr!

Kitty Furniture

Speaking of kitty furniture, this is a great way to please your feline overlord. Given that Fluffy spends a rather ridiculous amount of time sleeping, it’s no surprise that beds are some of her favorite things. Catios are also great, as they encourage kitties to jump and climb. If your budget is tight, go the DIY route and make your pet’s things.

Snacks

Cats are known for being finicky, but they do still have some favorites. Offer Fluffy a can of plain tuna, or perhaps some shredded deli meat. Plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat, is also fine.

Veterinary Care

Fluffy may not be happy about visiting us, but she’ll both look and feel better with great care. Healthy cats are happy cats!

Lap Space

It’s also important to make sure Fluffy feels loved. Pay lots of attention to your tiny friend, and offer her lap space if she wants to cuddle. Settling in with a purring kitty and a good book or movie is a great way to relax!
